AUBURN – Wilma J. Buteau, 60, of Mechanic Falls, died Saturday evening at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Health and Hospice Care in Auburn, after a short battle with cancer.

She was born in Mechanic Falls on Aug. 4, 1945, the daughter of William and Geneva Fifield Hackett. For the last 16 years, Wilma was a Title 1 teacher at the Minot School.

Survivors include her husband, John, of Mechanic Falls; a daughter, Denise Vincent and her husband, Richard, of Lewiston; two stepdaughters, Lisa Coddington and Gail Scalfaro, of Florida; her mother, Geneva Hackett; a brother, Paul Hackett and sister-in-law, Nancy Hunter, all of Mechanic Falls; a brother-in-law, Donald Buteau and his wife, Sandra, of Bartlett, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Sarah and Shawn Vincent and Rhiannon Coddington.
