NORWAY — The Board of Selectmen will meet with the senior planner of the Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Norway Town Office to discuss the state’s new marijuana law.
During the board’s Feb. 2 meeting, Town Manager David Holt said John Maloney of AVCOG agreed to visit the board and address what the marijuana law means for Norway.
He added that while Maloney wasn’t “equipped to speak about the goodness or badness of marijuana,” he would be willing to discuss the specifics of the law and how Norway can enforce it moving forward.
Other items on the agenda include acceptance of gifts, donations and reimbursements.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
