There were a lot of entries for last week’s Mystery Photo, but only a few entrants correctly guessed the Trinity Memorial Garden outside the Trinity Church on the corner of Bates and Maple streets in Lewiston. About 10 years ago, there was a decision to move the ornate baptismal font outside, as it was in an awkward space in the small church. About five years ago, the junior warden of the church, Bob Hitchcock, was asked to build a wooden cover to keep water and rodents out of the font and plumbing inside it. When his wife, Connie, saw last week’s Mystery Photo, she knew exactly what it was and sent an email entry that was chosen at random from all the correct entrants. She will receive a $20 gift card, courtesy of Hannaford Supermarkets.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
