PORTLAND — The Maine Community Foundation’s Maine Charity Foundation Fund is accepting grant applications for new or ongoing projects that help older people remain vital, socially engaged and contributing community members.

Grants of up to $7,500 will be awarded for projects that help vulnerable or disadvantaged older people learn about and access resources; engage in healthy and active pursuits; find transportation solutions; or share common interests.

The deadline for applications is Sept. 15.

A recent grant was awarded locally to Community Concepts Inc. to provide transportation to Head Start children and seniors in Rumford to help children attend preschool and improve quality of life for older adults.
