SUMNER — Elinor Morrill Bean, 91, of Sumner, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 22, at her daughter’s residence after a lengthy illness.

Elinor was born in Sumner on September 1, 1925, a daughter of Merlyn C. and Hattie (Russell) Morrill and attended Sumner schools.

Elinor worked for many years at Maine Apple Growers in Buckfield. She had also worked in local wood product manufacturing, including Wilner Wood Products, Gladding Paris and worked at Norway Footwear until retirement. Elinor was an avid Red Sox fan, she enjoyed cooking, working in her flower garden, doing picture puzzles, and her dogs, May and Pebbles. In her earlier years, Elinor enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiling.

She is predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Herbert “Beanie” Bean, who died on July 25, 2004; and her sister, Beatrice Morse in 1999.

Surviving are her daughter, Becky Durgin and her husband, Dwayne, of Sumner; her son, Bruce Bean and his wife, Tammy, of Sumner; grandchildren, Sandra and Thomas Morrison, and Kristy and Joseph Durgin; great-grandchildren, Mitchell Morrison, Nicole Morrison, Zachary Morrison, Cameron Durgin and Cayden Durgin; and stepgrandchildren, Brent Durgin, Teira Durgin, Nicole Martin, Alan Hadley, Carla Martin, Lizzy Martin and Jaxson Hadley.
