Some of Lewiston’s candidates for mayor lean far to the left; some lean far to the right. The mayoral race should be non-partisan. I believe only one candidate stands solidly in the middle — independent Mark Cayer.
Cayer’s campaign slogan is “Your city, my city, our city.” The inclusiveness of his slogan makes me confident in his ability to interact positively with all of Lewiston’s citizens.
I trust that his level-headed genuine approach to problem solving will enable Lewiston to grow and prosper. He also has experience in city government, having served on the Lewiston City Council for several years.
In November, I will be casting my vote for Mark Cayer, and I hope other Lewiston voters will join me in voting for him.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
