PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Donald Charles Foye Sr., of Portsmouth, N.H., died Saturday, March 12, at Portsmouth Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born in Rutland, Vt., Dec. 7, 1919, the son of Leonard and Pauline Fosburg Foye. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1944, served in World War II and was aboard the USS Philippine Sea during the Korean conflict. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1966.

He married Pauline Dorey in 1941, and they had eight children. His wife predeceased him in 2003.

Among his survivors are daughter Lenny Fairchild of Rumford; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
