FARMINGTON – Howard E. Swift, 90, of Wilton, died Saturday, Nov. 13, at the Sandy River Center for Health Care after a brief illness.

He was born, Nov. 25, 1912, in Wilton.

He worked as a superintendent at Norwalk Shoe in Norridgewock. He later retired as general manager at Bass Shoe in Wilton.

Mr. Swift attained his lifelong dream of graduating from college at the age of 74 from the University of Maine at Farmington.

He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 64 years; two sons, Arthur, of Texas, and Peter, of Arizona; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
