1928 – 2004
SOUTH PARIS – Jean R. Brackett, 76, of South Paris, died peacefully at home on Sunday, April 4, with family at her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Born in N. Monmouth, Feb.8, 1928, the daughter of Evelyn (Jordan) and Jesse Richardson, she graduated Valedictorian of Monmouth Academy, Class of 1946, and completed a year of postgraduate classes at Rangeley High School.
On June 21, 1947, she married Reginald Brackett and together they owned and operated Brackett’s Country Store from 1948 to 1952. During her years as wife, mother and homemaker, (we will miss her baked and canned goods, especially her bread and chocolate donuts), she raised four children and cared for many more. She instilled a sense of family and strength to all who knew her.
She will be sadly missed by daughters, Cheryl and husband, John MacPherson of Otisfield, Karla and husband, Joe Bransford of Greene, Bobby and husband, Neil Stewart of Rangeley; son, Barry and wife, Lisa Brackett of Somerville; granddaughters, Heather MacPherson and fiancé, Ray Garnett of South Paris, Jenny and husband, Bill Thebarge of Dixfield, Chrissy Stewart and friend, Brian Clarke of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandson, Neil Stewart, Jr. of Maine Maritime Academy; great-grandson, Chase Thebarge of Dixfield; sisters, Geraldine R. Brackett of Loudon, N.H., Pauline and husband, Afton Gove of Winthrop, Joanne Ricker of Gardiner; special nephew, Mark Brackett and family of Pembroke, N.H.; special niece, Hope and husband, Nelson Pendexter of S.China; and dear friend/caregiver, Jean Pepin.
She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years; a sister, Janice; and niece, Nancy.
