S. BOSTON, VA. – David Glines “Red” Mooney, 88, of S. Boston, Va., died Saturday, March 20, at The Woodview.

He was the son of the late Mathias Mooney and Emma Glines Mooney and was the husband of the late Lillian Brown Mooney.

He was a World War II Marine veteran and was a retired machinist with Boise-Cascade.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda “Peanut” Unroe of Vernon Hill, Va., and Betty Downs of Sumner; one brother, Andrew Mooney of Maine; eight grandchildren, Wilson Downs, Hope Ann Katz, David Downs, Roger Downs II, Wendy Downs, Matthew Downs, David Giroux II and Stormy Giroux Hobbs; several great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lillian Brown Mooney; and one grandson, Brett Giroux.
