LOWER GWYNNED, Pa. — Mary Jane Thomas, of Lower Gwynned, Pa., formerly of Wethersfield, Conn., passed peacefully from this earthly life on Friday, Sept. 22.
She was the daughter of Archer and Grace Hamilton. She attended Bates College in Lewiston to become a registered nurse. After moving to Philadelphia to work in nursing she married her husband and best friend, Randal H. Thomas. They made their family home in Oreland, Pa.
She attended the Episcopal church. Remaining in Montgomery County over the years, she later worked in Fort Washington at International Computaprint Corporation (ICC), which later became Reed/Thomas Tech. Moving to her community at Lower Gwynedd, she enjoyed being near her family, her caring community friends and also a year-round safe and active lifestyle. She always believed that there should be a way that everyone could have health care.
She leaves behind her caring community friends and her family: brother, Clark Hamilton and his wife, Elizabeth; daughters Laura Thomas and Carol Secor; granddaughters Laura Secor and Beth Secor; nephews Edward Hamilton and family and Thomas Hamilton; and caring friend William Gross and family.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
