1928 – 2004
LEWISTON – Harlan M. Harris, 75, of 5 Crowley Road, died Monday, Jan. 19, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
Born in Lewiston, May 5, 1928, the son of George M. and Laura Brown Harris, he graduated from Edward Little High School and attended Bliss Business College.
He served in the U.S. Army/Air Force from 1945 to 1948, and was the recipient of the World War II Victory Medal and the Marksman Medal and played in the Army Band. He was married Aug. 7, 1948, to Theresa Nadeau.
He was employed as an accountant for the State of Maine at the Maine State Police headquarters from 1957 until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of Holy Cross Parish, a life member of American Legion Post 22, a life member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America, Maine State Employees Association and the Polio Survivors Foundation.
He was a polio survivor for 51 years. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed reading, the ocean and music.
Survivors include his wife of Lewiston; a daughter, Arlene Duclos and husband, Paul of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Michele Leclair and Sandra Irish and husband, Michael; two great-grandchildren, Joshua Leclair and Cameron Irish; a brother, George M. Harris and wife, Margaret of Auburn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a brother, Blaine Harris.
