1930 – 2004

LEWISTON – Seldon C. (Bud) Smiley Sr., 73 died Monday, Jan. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center.

He was born in Waterville, April 13, 1930, the son of Maurice and Inze (Read) Smiley. Mr. Smiley was educated in Waterville schools, he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps having served in the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 17, 1963, he married the former Dorothy Foss. She died June 11, 2000.

He worked 24 years for General Electric of Auburn retiring in 1992. He was a member of the ACME Club, American Legion Post 153, the New Auburn Social Club, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and VFW Post 1603.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, but most of all his companion “Bear”.

Survivors include two sons, Sheldon Jr., and his wife Patty of Lewiston, Timothy and his wife Audrey of Auburn; one daughter, Melinda of Lewiston; and seven grandchildren, Jonathan Walthers of Lewiston, Drake Smiley of Lewiston, Austin and Cartlin Smiley of Auburn, Joshua Smiley of Oxford, Brook and Jordan Smiley of Lewiston.
