NORWAY — Vivian J. Chapman, 92, of Harrison, died Friday, Nov. 28, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Rumford on Dec. 20, 1910, a daughter of Albert J. and Nellie M. Sullivan Martin. She attended Rumford and Portland schools and worked in local department stores including Woolworths, Greens, J.J. Newberry and Wilsons. She also had worked at Ashtons Drug Store, the Country Way and Barjo Restaurants, and Oxford Provisions.

She was a member of the Stone-Smart American Legion Post #82 Auxillary, the Lions Club of South Paris, and was a communicant of St. Catherine of Sienna in Norway.

Her husband, Gerald K. Chapman, died in 1990.

She was also predeceased by her former husband, Henry Simmonds; her second husband, Raymond Kilgore; and her companion for the last few years, James Market.

She is survived by one son, Henry (Dee) Simmonds of Suffield, Conn.; a daughter, Patricia Huitt of Bridgton; a stepson, Robert Chapman Sr. of Naples; a brother, James S. Martin of St. Petersburg, Fla.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
