SOUTH PARIS — “More to Come,” the one-act play honoring Duncan E. Slade, will be performed again at Celebration Barn Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 13, 190 Stock Farm Road. Tickets are available through the Barn’s website: http://www.celebrationbarn.com/shows-at-the-barn/.

This original triptych was written for the 2017 Norway Arts Festival which honored Slade (1918-2013), an accomplished painter and teacher who lived for many years in Oxford Hills. The play imagines three scenes in his life: as a Marine pilot in World War II, as a junior high school teacher in South Paris in 1982 and as an elderly painter in his studio on Main Street in Norway. Visual displays of photographs and paintings bridge the three scenes. It was performed at the UU Church in Norway in tandem with a retrospective of Slade’s paintings offered by Western Maine Art Group.

Actors include Daniel Rennie of Lewiston, Sally Jones of Norway, and Scott Parsons of Otisfield, as well as the author, Lisa Moore of Harrison. All four actors knew Slade personally in different ways.

Says Moore, “We are thrilled to offer ‘More to Come’ again at Celebration Barn Theater. Since there was only one performance on July 7, the night before the festival, a lot of people were unable to attend. We hope they can make it on Friday, Oct. 13. Duncan would love it that both dates are so easy to remember. In fact, he would love everything about this.”

Amanda Huotari, executive artistic director of Celebration Barn Theater, adds, “The Barn is particularly proud to present this encore performance because it celebrates so much creativity, passion and generosity in our community. Bringing to life a beautiful script written by Lisa Moore, the talented cast astutely captures Duncan’s rebel spirit and keen interest in experiencing life in the right light.”

Celebration Barn Theater will offer a small exhibit of Slade paintings and other displays in the lobby, which will open at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and beer and wine will be available for purchase. The house will open at 7 p.m. Tickets are limited and cost $10.
