LEWISTON – John J. Bay, 83, of Coplin Plantation, died Thursday, Oct. 9, at Central Maine Medical Center.
Born in Union Hill, N.J., Nov. 20, 1919, the son of William and Minnie Bay, he was educated in schools of Montville, N.J.
He loved the outdoors and hunting. A Purple Heart veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a self-employed carpenter, retiring in 1978.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 54 years, Liessette; one daughter, Deanna Fotter and her husband, Barry of Coplin Plantation; one son, Glenn Bay and his wife, Bonnie of Forest City, Pa.; four grandchildren, Adam Fotter of Coplin Plantation, Christopher Bocchino of Melbourne, Fla., and Bonnie Jean and Laura Penambere of Forest City, Pa.; two sisters, Katherine Passmore of Montville, N.J., and Margaret Ruck and her husband, Warren of Kinnelon, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by four brothers; and two sisters.
