BATH – Gertrude E. Lemieux, 86, of 12 Brooks Ave., Lewiston died Thursday, Aug. 28, at Hill House Nursing Home.
She was born in Lewiston, Jan. 21, 1917, the daughter of Joseph and Lumina Dussault Allen. She was educated in local schools and was married May 12, 1945 to Marc J. Lemieux who predeceased her Jan. 18, 1997.
She was a homemaker most of her life and worked hard raising her family in addition to working in local mills and shoe shops. She was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Parish and enjoyed hosting family dinners, and in her younger years enjoyed playing on a broom hockey team and ice skating.
She is survived by a daughter, Michelle Simmons and husband Edgar of Bowdoin; two sons, M. Bruce Lemieux of Lewiston and Richard N. Lemieux and wife Doris of Basking Ridge, N.J.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gilberte Allen of Lewiston.
