1937 – 2003

FARMINGTON – Lawrence Henry Robbins, 66, a longtime resident of Wilton and fomerly of Jay, passed away to be with the Lord Friday, Aug. 15, at Franklin Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.

He was born July 7, 1937, in Farmington, the only son of William L. and Edith Perkins Robbins. He received his education in Norway schools, and shortly after graduation joined the United States Navy.

On Nov. 12, 1955, he married Geraldine Robbins of Wilton at Beans Corner. He worked in local shoe shops and as a woodsman, as well as having been a foreman at Cummings Dowel Manufacturing in Norway. He was best known as the Mt. Blue Taxi driver in Farmington for many years and most recently selling apples in Gifford’s parking lot in Farmington for Terry Trask.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, searching for bargains at yard sales, spending time with his family, and talking with friends on the CB as “Golden Eagle.”

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Geraldine, of Jay; their only son, Corey K. Robbins and his wife Michelle Dostie-Robbins of Livermore Falls; two grandchildren, Cole and Bradine Robbins of Livermore Falls; a sister, Marian Tilton and her husband; a special brother-in-law, Ernest Robbins and his wife Ellen, with whom he spent many good times with; and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by all.
