HAVERHILL, MASS. – Eleanor (Mercer) MacMunn, 76, died Friday, July 23, at Merrimack Valley Hospital in Haverhill, after a lengthy illness.

She owned and operated an antique business along with her late husband, Henry J. MacMunn, who died in 1999.

She was a talented painter of fine crafts and a member of the Bethel Grange. Born in Edgartown, Mass., the daughter of the late Nathan and Edna (Willoughby) Mercer, she was a 1946 graduate of Edgartown High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.

She lived in Bethel for many years before moving to Haverhill six months ago to live with her daughter.

She leaves two sons and their wives, Bruce and Chontel MacMunn of Greene, and Paul and Julia MacMunn of Turners Falls, Mass.; a daughter and son-in-law, Pauline and Stephen Parsons, of Haverhill, Mass.; two brothers, A. Stanley Mercer of Chilmark, Mass., and Willoughby Mercer of Coronado, Calif.; a sister, Rachel Burns of Centerville, Mass.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Peter S.; a granddaughter, Amber Dawn; a brother, Nathan Jr.; and one sister, Caroline Mercer.
