LEWISTON – Anita B. Basselet, 83, of 34 Martin Drive, died Saturday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, with her family by her side.
Born in Lewiston, April 27, 1921, the daughter of John V. and Adrienne Roy Benoit, she was educated in Lewiston schools.
She was married May 22, 1944, to Emilio H. “Sam” Basselet, who predeceased her April 9, 1998. She was a lifelong member of Holy Cross Parish and prior to her retirement was employed at Androscoggin Bank. She enjoyed golfing, fishing, knitting and playing Scrabble.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Basselet and wife, Nancy, of Casco and Guy Basselet and wife, Rejeanne, of Lewiston; three granddaughters, Angel Khazadian, J.J. Dufort and Michelle Basselet; two grandsons, Brooks and Hunter Basselet; a great-grandson, Decovan “Covy” Dufort; a sister, Jeannette Dion and husband, Robert O., of Florida; and a brother, John R. Benoit and wife, Priscilla, of Florida.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Pauline in 1974, and two brothers, Richard and Roger Benoit.
