LEWISTON – Albert L. Burpee, 69, of 2090 Detroiter St., Sarasota, Florida, and of Lewiston, died suddenly early Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at his residence.
He was born in Lewiston, July 20, 1934, the son of George W. and Annette Tardif Burpee. He graduated from Lewiston High School and attended Bryant and Stratton College in Boston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He served as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal service for 33 years, retiring in 1989. He was an avid walker who walked six miles every day, summers in Lewiston and winters in Sarasota. He was a former member of Lewiston Lodge of Elks and American Legion Post #22.
At the time of his death he was an active member of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Estates Homeowners Association, serving as treasurer, and served on several committees including budget and maintenance. He enjoyed his winters in Sarasota for the past 12 years.
He is survived by his wife, the former Constance Thibault of Sarasota and Lewiston; three daughters, Carolyn and husband, Steve Marston of Lewiston, Deborah and Lynn of Starks, Nev.; son, Michael Paradis and wife, Joanne of Old Orchard Beach; sister Georgette Maloof of Charlestown, Mass.; two brothers, Donald R. of Lisbon and Gerald W. Sr. of Sarasota and Lewiston; six grandchildren, Melissa Paradis of Biddeford and Jeff Paradis of Old Orchard Beach, Jenna and Eric Marston of Lewiston and Matthew and Meagan Willander of Starks, Nev.
