PUERTO PLATA, Dominican Republic – Michael Israelson, 42, of Livermore died Aug. 24, in the Dominican Republic, where he had been living.

He was born Oct. 18, 1963, in Boston, Mass., the oldest son of David Israelson and Marcia Holmcrans. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School and attended the University of Maine in Augusta.

As a boy, he loved fishing for trout in the brook near his Livermore home. He also enjoyed traveling. Since he didn’t like cold weather, most of his travels included many southern states, Europe, as well as the Islands of the Caribbean. He also had a passion for cooking and worked his way to a position as chef in several restaurants.

He is survived by his father and step-mother of Livermore; his mother of Portsmouth, N.H.; brothers, Kurt of Livermore and Paul of Portsmouth, N.H.; stepsisters, Tracy Milstead, Amy Zelanick; stepbrother, Mark Mercier; and a grandmother, Ann Holmcrans of Cape Cod, Mass.

He was predeceased by his grandmother, Eleanore Israelson.
