LEWISTON – Dorothy Rioux, 95, formerly of Meadowview, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 18, at Russell Park with family at her side.

She was born in Van Buren on June 13, 1911, a daughter of Edmond and Flavie (Thibodeau) Thibodeau. She was educated in Van Buren schools, graduated from Sacred Heart High School and then attended the Presque Isle Normal School.

On Dec. 31, 1941, she married Roland A. Rioux in New Britain, Conn. He passed away on Jan. 31, 2002.

She worked locally for many years, first as a clerk at Peck’s Department Store for several years, then at local shoe shops. She later worked for Country Kitchen until her retirement.

She was a member of Horizons 55 and Covenant 50.

Among her favorite enjoyments were spending time with her grandchildren, listening to music, playing the organ and playing Beano.

She leaves a son, Robert R. Rioux and his wife, Diane, of Lewiston; two grandchildren, Michelle Therriault and husband, Marc, and Kevin Rioux and wife, Kristy; four great-grandchildren, Gavin Therriault, Madyson Therriault, Nicholas Rioux and Emma Rioux; two sisters, Esther Thibodeau of Lewiston, and Pauline Harvey of Auburn; two brothers, Edrick Thibodeau and wife, Catherine, of Lewiston, and Henry Thibodeau and wife, Joan, also of Lewiston; two sisters-in-law, Irene Thibodeau and Alice Thibodeau, both of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by six brothers, Romeo, Alfred, Ludger, Roger, Lorn and Richard; and three sisters, Lottie, Myrtle and Lucille.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Seth Gordon and the entire staff at Russell Park; and also to the staff at Beacon Hospice for the loving care given to Dorothy.
