“Hip, hip, hoorah,” for JoAn Karkos for her deep-seated convictions and willingness to be a voice crying out in the wilderness. She should be applauded for standing in the gap of a moral dilemma.

The book “It’s Perfectly Normal” should not be considered normal reading material for children. It is too explicit and is obscene. Any mature adult who disagrees with me should check the book out and see it for themselves.

In the past, I have protested what I viewed as dangerous reading material, namely the Harry Potter book series. What made my demonstration different from hers is that the books that I had in my possession were my property. The book she has in her possession belongs to the Lewiston Public Library.

The Bible says, “Thou shalt not steal.”

Her point was made loud and clear, and the community has become aware of that awful literature because of her righteous indignation. It is time now for the book to be returned to its rightful place.

I think the saddest thing of all is the lack of interest by the local clergy. The evangelical community should stand together and roar like a lion. The churches in this community should set an example of moral clarity.
