This is in response to the letter from Rolande I. Caron, printed July 2.

Men and women in an all-volunteer army who die in war cannot be compared to aborting babies. The difference between men and women dying in a war to keep our country free and aborting babies is simply that “adult” men and women have a choice whether to serve in the U.S. military, but babies have no choice whether they are aborted.

When listening to the news shows carefully, a person would realize that indeed things are much better in Iraq.

The “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy ensures people who are gay who want to “voluntarily” join the U.S. military do so without the possibility of being harassed by some military people who are “straight.”
