This is in regard to the Village Ridge project in Canton.

Meetings have been loud and tense. People are afraid of being pressured by deadlines, and there is a lack of complete, accurate information. There are a few residents interested in smaller homes, on smaller lots with higher taxes.

Townspeople wonder where needed tax revenues will come from. It is possible that new families with reliable income are anxious to move into Canton, but people have seen that low income housing (with all the problems that come along with it) comes instead. Canton residents are primarily 50-years-old or older, people who dislike change to the town.

Safety and security can be forfeited for possible tax revenues, but then there are increased security services costs.

Those are plausible concerns for residents of a quiet, small town.

It seems that less deadlines and more factual information, with more time to clarify things and have questions answered, are required. And then, when weather is better and all senior residents are in town, have a new vote.
