I love this time of year. Especially since the Red Sox made it to the World Series. I expected the Sox to win, and they did. In the words of Gen. George S. Patton, “Americans love a winner.”
But I disagreed with the subject of a recent article in the Sun Journal (Professor: Success jars Red Sox fans, Oct. 25). Red Sox fans don’t just wait for the team to lose. For 30 years I was a Red Sox fan on the West Coast. I and my team were ridiculed a lot (every season, actually). I listened to the entire disappointing Mets vs. Red Sox game on the radio in the 80s, but I never stopped expecting my team to win.
Being back in New England again, surrounded by like-minded fans, is wonderful.
Keep it going, Red Sox.
