President George Bush has committed a fraud. He lied to the Congress and to the nation about the grounds for entering into war against the Iraqi people. He has committed a crime in the legal and not just the colloquial sense. His crime is far worse than Enron’s and the perpetrators of that crime are in jail. Bush’s crime is not a victimless one. Why is he not on his way to impeachment and jail?
We cannot shrug our shoulders as Sens. Collins and Snowe have. They do not pursue Bush’s guilt because they, too, have colluded. They voted to commit the U.S. to this terrible, immoral war in the same way the Enron fiasco was determined by many people. Not just one person. Collins and Snowe, too, colluded to defraud the American people.
The Iraq war is far more devastating for the U.S. than Enron, yet the CEO who perpetrated the fraud that committed the U.S. to an unjust war is not being held accountable-nor are our senators.
Why should George Bush not be tried for crimes against humanity? This is disquieting because it clearly implies the war hysteria that swept the country implicates the vast majority of our citizens, as well as the Sun Journal.
As a nation, we must demand the indictment of George Bush for war crimes against humanity, and we need to ask forgiveness of the Iraqi nation and of the human community.
