Recently, I read an article about compact fluorescent lighting in the Sun Journal. (March 2.) The Maine Public Utilities Commission was ecstatic about the millionth light bulb sold.
I have bought some too, but deplore the “lamp contains mercury” label I see on the back of the package.
I have yet to question my local transfer station about proper disposal. Are we conserving energy in one way, only to add more toxic mercury?
Has the PUC educated us about hazards?
