Has anyone noticed how cable companies continue to jack up prices each year? Blame it on our Congress for allowing antiquated legislation to inhibit the growth of the video market and promote a monopolistic environment.
For years now, cable companies have been free to raise prices at their will because regulation has prevented competition. Local franchising laws make it nearly impossible for new companies to enter the market, for it forces them to negotiate separate contracts with each town they wish to provide services to.
This situation could change sooner than later if Congress adopts legislation to reform the current laws that control the market today.
Consumers should have a choice when choosing their video service provider. It is time for our congressmen to take a look at their cable bills, and come to the same conclusion as I have.
