I sit back and watch the images flashing across the screen of the aftermath of Katrina. So many families torn apart and countless lives lost. Other lives left at a complete standstill, it seems.

And along with the news updates of the saving of these people, is the controversy of whom to blame for why it took so long.

But what is really important? Who to blame, or making it right?

Katrina left behind devastation. That much is clear. It will take a long time for those living through this crisis to get their lives back on track.

But I can also see a rainbow after this storm. It is called compassion. Humankind is pulling together and helping those in dire need right now.

Though it may be disheartening to think it took such a tragedy for mankind to open its eyes, the true tragedy will be if we forget.
