This is in reference to the guest column by Robert Macdonald that was printed in the Sun Journal on Feb. 27 about the World War II battle for control of Iwo Jima.

Macdonald did not mention any U.S. Army unit taking part in the assault on the island. The Army was there. The 483rd anti-aircraft battalion went in on the third wave. Our battalion was attached to the 5th Marine Division.

I will say again, the U.S. Army was there.
