It was interesting to read Tim C. Walton’s guest column July 18 on “College for ME? Maybe, maybe not” in the Sun Journal.
I totally agree with his thoughts. I’m against transforming the state’s 27 vocational high schools into voluntary 13-year programs. Let it be as is for interested students to be able to go to vocational training without adding a 13th year to get a high school diploma. Let the graduate make his own decision for his future.
Many of our service people have no college degrees and have learned a good trade. Not all can afford colleges. What would we do without the service people in carpentry, plumbing, oil services, food services, electricians, etc.?
These hardworking people are the backbone of our lives as far as I’m concerned.
