I recently read where the United States Mint is designing a new $20 with special color features to help curb counterfeiting. Maybe the need for a new $1 bill is not as urgent as the $20, but I believe it is still necessary.

From what I can see, old notes are becoming less and less common. I hope that the stale $1 bills, which are in my pocket every day of my life, will become as rare as the older $5, $20, $50 and $100 are now.

I think it would be very interesting if the U.S. government would design and print a new series $1 bill. I think this design of the $1 bill should resemble the new series design of the updated $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills.

I believe it looks strange to reach into your pocket and pull out a brand new, crisp $20 bill, and right alongside it is an old, ripped, wrinkled $1 bill that was printed in the late 1980s.

I realize the reason that the government does not make a new series $1 note is because people do not usually counterfeit $1 bills, but appearance wise I think that it needs to be changed.
