We did our time and fought the wars to make this country and government strong. But now we have to fight another battle. The battle to get the benefits we were promised (Jan. 7).

The military wonders why the youth of today avoid joining up. Besides the fear of war, they have vets as relatives and friends who are fighting for their benefits. Why join something that can’t come through with the promises that it makes?

And now, once again, our government is dishonoring the people that made it strong. When will the people of the United States stand up for the veterans who have kept them free? And the men and women who died, became MIAs, or have become disabled while protected their freedom?

I’m sorry that Mr. King has shown such disloyalty to people who made a country that allows him and others to be voted to the positions they hold.
