LEEDS – It was a busy day Sunday at Springbrook Golf Course. A large number of golfers participated in the 2006 Al’s Italian Open Tournament.

The day started with the dedication of the driving range improvements and Memorial Garden to long-time Golf Professional Al Biondi who passed away in November of 2006. As one Springbrook staffer put it, “His time was spent on the range, sharing his passion and dedication to the game of golf with all those who wanted to learn and improve their game. Although his presence is greatly missed, his wisdom and lessons will live forever.”

Al’s Italian Open involved a 4-person scramble. Following are the results:

Tourneys upcoming

Two tournaments are sheduled this weekend on area golf courses.

The Maine Golf Heritage Scramble is slated for Sunday, Oct. 15 at Poland Spring Golf Course. It’ll be a scramble format with a shotgun start at 10 a.m.
