LISBON FALLS – The annual Moxie Day 5-kilometer road race is scheduled for Saturday, July 8 at 7:30 a.m. The race will begin behind X-Tra Mart, across from Lisbon High School, and is scheduled rain or shine.
The course provides a quick, scenic run through the outskirts of town. The route is mostly flat but includes two steep upgrades, one at the start and another near the two-mile mark. Maps will be available on race day. Split times will be given at the one- and two-mile marks, and a water station will be available at the halfway point.
Lisbon High School has offered the use of its locker rooms, showers and rest rooms. Registration will take place from 6 to 7 a.m. Cost is $12 on race day or $10 for those who pre-register by calling 353-3000 ext. 117. All participants in the kids’ event will receive medals.
Prizes will be awarded to the first-place male and female finishers in the 5K.
Awards will be presented to the first and second-place finishers in the following age brackets: 12-ansd-under, 13-16, 17-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and 60-and-over. Additional awards will be presented to the top finishing male and female Lisbon residents. Free race t-shirts will be presented to the first 75 registered runners. The Moxie Day 5K is sponsored by Masters Activity Center, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, Adept Screen Printing & Graphics and Poland Spring Water.
