HARRISON – The Western Maine Fish & Game Club is sponsoring a hunter safety course, April 22-23, at the Harrison Fire Station. Classes will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. In order to be certified, students must attend both days. First time hunters are reminded they must pass a hunter safety course in order to be eligible to purchase a hunting license.

Minimum age for the course is 10. Those 12-under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Class size is limited to the first 40 who enroll. A $3 donation is required.

Track program slated

LEWISTON – Beginning April 24, the Lewiston Recreation Department is offering an “Introduction to Track & Field” program for youngsters in Grades K-6.

The 6-week program will involve practice sessions on Mondays from 6-7:30 p.m., and 8:30-11:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Adam Mayo is the program director.

Participants will be offered training and conditioning in track and field events, with instructors teaching technique and emphasizing physical fitness.

Events available are long jump, shot put, high jump, sprints, racewalk, hurdles, distance running and relays.

Entry fee is $35 for residents, and $45 for non-residents.

Soccer camps planned

WORCESTER, Mass. – Elvis Comrie, head coach of men’s soccer at Holy Cross College, will be hosting two weeks of camp for full day and overnight campers this summer. The dates are July 9-13 at Holy Cross, and July 16-20 for the Elvis Comrie Soccer Academy for Elite players at Nichols College.

Eligible are players ages 10-17. Programs for girls and boys will be held separately. Entry fee is $395 for residents and $295 for full day.
