OXFORD – The Oxford Hills Gymnastics Team has inaugurated a new season. The team, sponsored by the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, competes in the YMCA Gymastics League and practices at Gymnastics Plus in Oxford. The team of 18 girls, ranging in age from 8-13, is coached by Donna Landry and Carol West.
Oxford Hills opened with a meet at Bangor against Bangor YMCA, Downeast YMCA, and Old Town YMCA. Following were OH’s top all-around scores: Level 4: Grace Bradford, 3rd; Jordan Schorr, 6th; Crystal West, 5th; Faith Potter, 2nd; Megan Anthony, 3rd; Liz Knightly, 1st; Christina Potter, 6th. Kaylee Millett placed 2nd on vault and 6th on bars. Level 5: Danielle Demers, 5th; Karianna Merrill, 5th. Deanna Merchant placed 3rd on vault; Josie Gajewski took 4th on beam and 5th on bars.
Oxford Hills then competed with Old Town-Orono YMCA and Waterville YMCA at Old Town with the following all-around leaders: Level 6: Brynn O’Connor, 6th. Orre-Ann Alexander was 4th on vault, 5th on beam and 6th on bars. Level 5: Danielle Demers, 3rd on vault, 4th on floor; Deanna Merchant, 3rd on vault; Emma-Jane Turton, 5th on vault. Level 4: Alannah Knox, 6th on floor; Crystal West, 5th on beam; Jordan Schorr, 6th on beam; Grace Bradford, 6th on bars, 4th on floor; Myia Linck, 6th on bars; Faith Potter, 4th all-around; Liz Knightly, 2nd all-around; Christina Potter, 4th all-around.
Potter and Knightly have qualified to compete in the Regional YMCA Meet at Goffstown, N.H. in May.
