AUBURN – The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is planning for its 37th consecutive year of the Youth Basketball Program. All three divisions are coed.
The Pee Wee Division is for youngsters in Grades 2-4. The player draft is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 6 at 8:30 a.m. Games are slated for Saturday mornings from Nov. 13 to Feb. 26. Practices are held once a week.
The Junior Division is for Grades 5-6. Draft day is Sunday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. Games are played on Sunday mornings from Nov. 14 through Feb. 27. Practice sessions are scheduled once per week.
Housed in the Intermediate Division are those in Grades 7-9. Draft day is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m.. Games are waged on Sundays at off-site locations, the season running from Nov. 14 to March 6. There are no practices in this division.
Pre-registration for the program runs from Oct. 11-31 at the YMCA at 62 Turner St. Entry fee is $30 pus a $45 Youth Membership. This membership is good for one year and can be used towards many other YMCA programs.
Skills & Drills
The YMCA is also sponsoring another Skills and Drills Basketball Program for boys and girls in Kindergarten through Grade 1. The program focuses on the introduction and development of skills, including dribbling, passing, shooting and team play.
Registration ends on Oct. 17. The program will begin Oct. 18 and continue through the week of Dec. 13. There will be 2 sessions, as follows: Session 1, Mondays and Thursdays, 5-5:45 p.m.; Session 2, Tuesdays and Fridays, 5-5:45 p.m. Entry fee is $30 plus a $45 YMCA Youth Membership.
All players will receive a YMCA basketball, T-shirt, and a certificate of completion with a group photo.
