AUBURN -The 2004 State Little League Major Softball Division Tournament has now reached the semifinal stage at the Auburn Suburban Little League complex on the Garfield Road.
Semifinal round games will be waged Tuesday, as follows:
1 p.m. District 4 Saco (2) vs District 2 Lincoln (3); 4 p.m., District 6 Scarborough (1) vs District 1 Calais (4).
The two winners will clash for the state crown on Wednesday at 4 p.m., with the winner advancing to the East Region Tournament in Albany, N.Y.
Following are the pool results:
Friday: Saco 4 Scarborough 1; Winslow (District 5) 7, Calais 0; Lincoln 6, Bangor (District 3) 5.
Saturday: Lincoln 15, Winslow 9; Bangor 14, Saco 3; Scarborough 7, Calais 2.
Sunday: Scarborough 14, Bangor 0; Calais 8, Lincoln 3; Saco 22, Winslow 2.
Auburn stays alive
BANGOR – Auburn’s Junior All-Star Team (13-14) remained alive in the State Little League Junior Baseball Tournament being held at Mansfield Stadium.Auburn dropped its first game to South Portland National, 8-1. ASLL pitcher Adam Lutz, who struck out 3, cracked 2 hits. Bill Brewster and Michael Lutz also had hits.
In game 2, Suburban stayed alive with an 8-5 victory over Coastal of Blue Hill. Mike Muise scattered 5 hits while fanning 4 and aided his cause with 3 hits. Eric Prue was also a repeat hitter.
ASLL remained in the tourney with a 12-7 victory over Bangor as Adam Lutz pitched and collected 3 hits at the plate. Prue also had a 3-hit game. Corey LaRue drilled 2 hits and knocked in 4 runs. Kyle Bussiere rapped a pair of safeties.
Auburn’s next game is against the loser of South Portland-Saco.
