Lewiston’s 12-under Frozen Ropes baseball team dropped a pair of games in recent action. South Portland gained a 7-1 victory despite a fine pitching effort from Mayke Hyde who struck out 7 in 4 innings. Top sticks were Hyde, Alex Parker, Frankie Welch and Joe Sullivan. . . Falmouth sent 13 batters and scored 9 runs in the fifth inning to rally for a 16-15 win over Lewiston in 7 innings. Lewiston’s repeat hitters were Parker, Scott Ouellette and Welch. Parker and Corbin Hyde chipped in with 3 runs each. Eric Hall stroked a key 2-RBI hit in the last of the sixth to tie the game. Chris Madden made 3 outstanding catches in center field.
Lewiston’s next home game is against Westbrook on Wednesday, July 28 at 5:30 p.m.
Ski program slated
RUMFORD – The Chisholm Ski Club is operating a summer training program for middle and high school Nordic and Alpine skiers. There will be an informational meeting tonight at 6 p.m. at the MeadWestvaco’s Administration Building in Rumford. All athletes and parents should attend this short meeting to learn about the training program, cost and times. The training sessions will start next week.
