AUGUSTA – The Capital City Veterans Day 5K and One Mile Kids Fun Run are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 11 at Hodgkins Middle School, Malta St., Augusta.

The Fun Run will begin at 9:30 a.m., and the 5K at 10:00.

Registration for the 5K is $15 and includes a long-sleeve newly designed T-shirt for the first 100 registrants. Entry fee is $5 for the Fun Run.

Awards will be given to overall male and female winners and age group leaders. There will be door prizes.

Hockey seminars set

USA Hockey, the governing body for most youth hockey teams, is sponsoring 3 more referee seminars. The events are designed to refresh current officials and to train new ice hockey refs. Skates and helmets are required.

Following are the remaining dates: Sunday, Oct. 3, 9 a.m., William Cohen Center, Hallowell; Saturday, Oct. 9, 10 a.m., Houlton Ice Arena; Sunday, Oct. 10, Brewer High School.

Ballplayers sought

MARIETTA, Ohio – Coast to Coast Athetics is attempting to recruit baseball players (ages 11-12, 13-15, 16-18) to represent the USA in international competition in Puerto Rico, the Netherlands and Australia. Those selected will compete against international all-star teams during the 2005 spring and summer school breaks.

Coast to Coast squads are managed by a staff of college coaches and pro scouts.
