TURNER – After three scoreless innings, Oxford Hills caught a break and came up with the only run of the game, allowing the Vikings (10-2) to escape with a 1-0 victory over Leavitt (4-8) on Wednesday.
In the fourth inning, Oxford Hills catcher Mindy Rugg doubled and moved third base on a wild pitch. She later scored on groundout to shortstop with one out.
There were no repeat hitters in the game. Oxford Hills pitcher Megan Gauger got the win on the mound.
Monmouth 7, Madison 1
MADISON – Reen Kahl scattered three hits in seven innings and drew ample run support as Monmouth hustled to a 7-1 victory over Madison.
Alyssa Morin and Angie Bechard led the Mustangs (8-2) with two hits apiece. Monmouth erupted for four runs in the seventh inning to seal the win.
Natalie Michaud led the Bulldogs (3-9) with two hits.
Mt. Ararat 11, Lewiston 5
LEWISTON – Miranda Reindeau hit two triples, one in the first that drove in a run and another in the fifth that brought in two more runs to lead Mt. Ararat to an 11-5 victory over Lewiston.
Pitcher Megan Carr earned the win and also contributed with a double, while Emily Rodgers had two base hits for the Eagles (4-7).
The Blue Devils (0-11) offense was carried by Carly Denis, who smacked a bases-clearing triple in the second inning and an RBI single in the fourth.
Telstar 6, Carrabec 1
NORTH ANSON – In what proved to be a pitcher’s duel, Telstar recorded a 6-1 win over Carrabec.
For Telstar, Candace Hall earned the win, fanning 14 batters and giving up just three hits, while Courtney Turner struck out 11, while scattering three hits to take the loss.
T.J. Cowin, Kayla Merrill, and Nicena Walker all singled for the Rebels (9-1), who took advantage of several walks and wild pitches in the fifth inning to record five of their six runs.
Mtn. Valley 9, Winthrop 8
WINTHROP – Despite a four-run rally by Winthrop in the seventh inning, Mountain Valley hung on for a 9-8 victory in an MVC softball matchup.
Shelby Moore led the Falcons (5-5) with four hits and three RBIs, while Hillary Dolloff earned her first win.
The game was knotted at 2-2 after three frames before Mountain Valley stepped up in the fourth. The Ramblers (3-7) were led by Michelle Laugh with two hits in the contest. Erin Belanger went the distance and suffered the loss.
Waterville 5, Oak Hill 0
WATERVILLE – Thanks in part to a slew of singles that sparked an offensive attack in the sixth inning, Waterville topped Oak Hill 5-0.
Both Jessica Boucher and Kaylee Gardner had singles in the sixth and each player scored after an error on a bunt.
Lauren Hall had a strong outing for Oak Hill (5-6), striking out eight batters and giving up only one walk in the loss.
Mt. Abram 14, Wiscasset 1
SALEM – Rachel Fullerton and Kylie Rolbiecki each had a pair of base hits to help propel Mt. Abram to a 14-1 triumph over Wiscasset on Wednesday.
The Roadrunners (8-3) were helped by scattered hits throughout the contest. They also took advantage of passed balls and several errors. Molly McCafferty earned the win and recorded six strikeouts.
C. Elizabeth 9, St. Dom’s 0
CAPE ELIZABETH – Cape Elizabeth constructed an eight-run lead after three innings and took advantage of six errors as the Capers (9-1) rolled over St. Dom’s with a 9-0 victory.
Winning pitcher Tricia Thibeault struck out nine batters and gave up on four hits. The Capers had seven hits on the day.
For St. Dom’s (8-2), Mary Caron punched up a pair of hits.
Fryeburg 9, Poland 0
FRYEBURG – Hannah Hill had an impressive performance both on the mound and at the plate, as she hurled a two-hit shutout, striking out 15 batters and smacked a two-run double in the second as Fryeburg blanked Poland 9-0.
Ellen Head had a pair of base hits and two RBIs, while Ariel McConkey and Tanya Randall each had two hits in the win.
Buckfield 12, Rangeley 0
BUCKFIELD – Brittany Wiley hurled five innings of one-hit softball and received ample run support as Buckfield hustled to a 12-0 shutout over Rangeley.
Sammy Jones led the Bucks (8-2) with three hits and three RBIs, while Melissa Taylor, Alicia Patrie and Ally Martin combined for six hits and three RBIs.
Gray-NG 13, Yarmouth 0
GRAY – Laura Getchell fanned 10 batters, finishing just one shy of earning her 500th career strikeout, as Gray-New Gloucester posted a 13-0 win over Yarmouth.
Brittany Adell led the offensive attack with a three-run double and a two RBI double, while Kassie Wilson and Abby Ryan each contributed with two-run doubles of their own.
Adell finished 4-4 with five RBIs.
