AUBURN — Doris E. Slattery Higgins, 92, of West Minot, died Saturday at Clover Health Care Center.
She was born in Hebron on Feb. 8, 1917, the daughter of Harry and Elsie M. Faunce Record. She attended high school in Buckfield for three years and graduated from Deering High School in 1934. After 34 years of service, many as Postmistress of the West Minot Post Office, Doris retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
She enjoyed dancing, sewing, cooking and crossword and jigsaw puzzles.Her family remembers she was always lots of fun and had her keen mind until her death. She married Thomas S. Slattery, who died in 1964. She later married Edward L. Higgins, who died in 1995.
Doris is survived by her children, William Slattery and his wife of West Minot, Carol Kimball and her husband, David, of Poland, Larry Slattery and his wife, Carolyn, of West Minot; a brother, Bernard Record and his wife, Muriel, of California; a sister-in-law, Olive Record of Minot; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Thomas Slattery, a brother, Glendon Record, and a great-grandson, David Kimball.
