MANCHESTER, N.H. – Ryan Patterson and Kyle Phillips each had four hits for the Fisher Cats as New Hampshire routed Portland, 12-5, in double-A baseball action Saturday afternoon.
Bubba Bell tied the game at 1-1 in the third inning with a solo-homer over the right-center field wall for the Sea Dogs (33-21). Later in the same inning, Portland took a one-point advantage with three consecutive two-out singles by Zach Daeges, Sandy Madera and Aaron Bates. Bates picked up his 36th RBI of the season.
The Fisher Cats (20-34) responded in their half of the third, tying the game on a solo-homer by Scott Campbell, and took the lead on a two-run shot by Patterson. New Hampshire extended their lead to 7-2 in the fourth inning, and Portland got no closer than two runs over the next five frames.
