It has been a winding, six-year road from American University in Washington, D.C., to the University of New Hampshire, and now to Gorham. But Caterina is putting a fabulous finishing touch on his hoop career by breathing life into the long-downtrodden Division III program only a few miles from home.

The Deering High School graduate turned in his 10th double-double of the season with 33 points and 14 rebounds in Southern Maine’s 79-68 win over Eastern Connecticut State in the opening round of the Little East Conference tournament.

Women: Kelsey Lamdin, Bates diving

Lamdin, a junior from Brunswick, smashed two school records in winning her fourth and fifth career New England Small College Athletic Conference all-conference honors at the annual league meet.

Her point totals in the 1-meter and 3-meter events were the highest in school history for an 11-dive championship program. Lamdin finished second in the 1-meter and third in the 3-meter.

A four-time All-American, Lamdin was joined by sophomore swimmer Katelyn Drake in winning all-NESCAC recognition for the Bobcats.
