AUBURN – Right-wing Ally Butler brought the ball into the circle and fired a shot that hit the back boards of the cage to register the lone goal of the game to give Edward Little a 1-0 victory over Lewiston in field hockey action held Monday.
The Red Eddies (6-5-1) held the advantage in shots, 22-3, making Lewiston (2-7-1) keeper Emily Craig work, as she made 21 saves. EL goalie Kayla Cummings stopped all three shots she faced in the win.
St. Dom’s 5, Poland 0
AUBURN – Colleen Rideout scored a hat trick to pace St. Dom’s to a 5-0 victory over Poland in a field hockey contest played Monday afternoon.
Rideout scored three consecutive goals for the Saints (9-1), before Mary Lewis took over and netted back-to-back goals. Lewis also assisted on three goals.
Austyn Carolin made three saves to preserve the shutout, while Dezaray Deburra was kept busy, stopping 32 shots for the Knights (2-8).
Girls soccer
Lisbon 2, Boothbay 0
LISBON – Ashley Beaulieu scored a goal in each half to help pace Lisbon to a 2-0 victory over Boothbay in MVC girls’ soccer action Monday.
Beaulieu’s first goal came 16 minutes into the game off a feed from Tara Metzger, who set Beaulieu up with a shot from the left wing. Beaulieu scored the insurance goal off a crossing pass by Megan Latour with 15 minutes left in the contest.
Sam Purcell picked up the win in net for the Greyhounds (6-5), stopping seven shots.
Oak Hill 2, Gardiner 1
WALES – With 27:14 left in the game, and playing one man down, Oak Hill broke a deadlock with help from Ashley Pulk, who picked up a loose ball off a corner kick and hammered it into the net for a 2-1 triumph over Gardiner.
Skye Boulette gave the Raiders a 1-0 lead by blasting a long shot over the Gardiner keeper’s head. The Tigers tied the game five minutes later when Steph Eaton’s shot found the back of the net. Then with 32 minutes remaining, Oak Hill received a red card after a player intentionally touched the ball with his hand. Gardiner missed their opportunity to take the lead by missing a penalty kick.
Maggie Sabine made 19 saves for the Raiders, while counterpart Kayla Marks stopped 11 shots for the Tigers.
Monmouth 1, Wiscasset 0
WISCASSET – Jess Gray notched the game-winning goal off a penalty kick with 20:58 left in the first half to give Monmouth the 1-0 victory over Wiscasset on Monday.
Monmouth keeper Katie Woodman made 10 saves in the shutout win. Michelle Miete also stopped 10 shots for Wiscasset.
Hall-Dale 3, Mtn. Valley 0
FARMINGDALE – Amy Skillings and Arian Kumlangngam each scored a goal and recorded an assist as Hall-Dale topped Mountain Valley 3-0.
Michelle Severance put Hall-Dale on the board with an assist from Kumlangngam within the first 10 minutes of the contest. Kumlangngam and Skillings scored within five minutes of each other at the end of the half, with Skillings’ goal coming off a penalty kick.
Ali Godbout made five saves to pick up the win in net for the Bulldogs (9-2). For Mountain Valley (8-4), Karrie McPherson stopped 14 shots.
Mt. Abram 1, Jay/LF 0
JAY – Rachel Fullerton blasted a shot into the goal to lead Mt. Abram to a 1-0 win over Jay/Livermore Falls in a soccer matchup held Monday.
Fullerton stole a crossing pass from a Jay/Livermore Falls player and found the back of the net for the game’s only goal. Kenni Norton recorded one save for the shutout for Mt. Abram (8-2-1), while Wildcat keeper Katie Beaulieu made 10 saves in the loss.
Winthrop 3, Dirigo 0
WINTHROP – Junior forward Lindsay Gordon scored a hat trick to lead Winthrop to a 3-0 victory over Dirigo in MVC girls’ soccer action Monday.
In a speedy game that saw many nice crosses up the middle, Gordon executed on three ocassions for the Ramblers (8-3). Sophomore Elaine Theriault fed Gordon on two of the goals.
Goalie Carrie Jamison had 15 saves for the Cougars (2-9-2), while Anna Smith-Gall turned aside five to earn her sixth shutout win of the season.
Boys’ soccer
Fryeburg 2, Poland 1
POLAND – Sun Woo Kim booted a ball into the left side of the net with 42 seconds left in the second overtime to lift Fryeburg to a 2-1 triumph over Poland in WMC boys’ soccer action Monday.
Junior midfielder Joe Murphy put the Knights (0-11-1) in front with a first-half goal.
Nico Azel saved the day for the Raiders, scoring a last second goal in regulation to force overtime.
Oak Hill, Gardiner tie
GARDINER – Oak Hill and Gardiner battled to a 3-3 tie in KVAC boys’ soccer action Monday.
The Raiders (2-6-3) held a 2-0 lead at the half on goals from Chris Ellis and Adam Soucy.
Gardiner (3-7-1) bounced back in the second half with three consecutive goals. Eric Goodwin tallied a pair and Roland Kennerson chipped in with another.
Timothy Levesque scored to salvage a tie for Oak Hill.
