PORTLAND – Pitcher Clay Buchholz fanned eight over five and two-thirds innings as the Portland Sea Dogs completed a four-game sweep of Reading with a 4-1 victory at Hadlock Field Monday afternoon.

Buchholz earned his second win, allowing only a pair of singles and three walks with his eight strikeouts. The Phillies (23-26) did not manage to advance a runner past second base against the right-hander.

Shortstop Jed Lowrie doubled and scored on right fielder Cory Keylor’s RBI double in the opening inning for the Sea Dogs (23-21). Jay Johnson added a two-run single in the third inning.

In the ninth inning, Keylor robbed Greg Jacobs of a home run with a leaping catch against the right field wall and Iggy Suarez made a diving catch off a Juan Tajeda liner to hold off any resurgence by the Phillies.

It is the first four-game sweep of Reading in franchise history.
