STANDISH – The Western Maine baseball and softball games scheduled for Wednesday at Saint Joseph’s College were postponed because of rain. All four games were rescheduled for today at their original times.
The Western B softball game between Greely and Cape Elizabeth started on time but was delayed in the third inning with the game scoreless because of lightning. When downpours persisted, the field became unplayable.
The Western D baseball game between Richmond and Rangeley was delayed from the start because of rain. It also was halted because of lightning, with Richmond ahead 3-0 in the third inning.
Both games will start over at 3 p.m..
The Western D softball game between Buckfield and Richmond, and the Western B baseball game with Oak Hill and Greely, had been scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday. Both were moved to tonight at 7.
